Subhash Ghai announces the sequel, ‘Aitraaz 2’

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the classic romantic thriller Aitraaz (2004), Subhash Ghai has officially announced its sequel, Aitraaz 2. The original, directed by the iconic duo Abbas–Mustan and produced by Mukta Arts, broke ground by addressing sexual harassment in the workplace, a topic rarely tackled in Indian cinema at the time. Starring Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film is remembered for its suspenseful storytelling and Chopra’s bold portrayal of Sonia, a character who redefined her career trajectory.
Reflecting on Chopra’s powerful role, Ghai shared on Instagram how the actress initially hesitated to accept the part due to its complexity but ultimately delivered one of her most memorable performances. “BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED N DID IT,” Ghai wrote, marking her performance as unforgettable even after two decades.
According to Ghai, Mukta Arts has been meticulously working on the script for Aitraaz 2 for the past three years, aiming to uphold the legacy of the original while introducing a fresh and compelling storyline. “Now MUKTA ARTS is ready for AITRAAZ 2 with a finest script… Just wait n watch,” he hinted, building anticipation for the upcoming film.
